Love ties them together. Death can't tear them apart.

Best. Birthday. Ever. At least, it was supposed to be. With Logan's band playing a critical gig and Aura's plans for an intimate after-party, Aura knows it will be the most memorable night of her boyfriend's life. She never thought it would be his last.

Logan's sudden death leaves Aura devastated. He's gone.

Well, sort of.

Like everyone born after the Shift, Aura can see and hear ghosts. This mysterious ability has always been annoying, and Aura had wanted nothing more than to figure out why the Shift happened so she can undo it. But not with Logan's violet-hued spirit still hanging around. Because dead Logan is almost as real as ever. Almost.

It doesn't help that Aura's new friend Zachary is so understanding—and so very alive. His support means more to Aura than she cares to admit.

As Aura's relationships with the dead and the living grow ever complicated, so do her feelings for Logan and Zachary. Each holds a piece of Aura's heart...and clues to the secret of the Shift.

I am so glad I finally got around to reading this book! Jeri Smith-Ready has put a new spin on ghost stories! This book was an emotional and fantastic read. I was sucked in from the first chapter. And it just got better from there. A plus for me it referenced a lot of my favorite bands and one of my favorite football teams. Smith-Ready sure knows how to get right to your heart with her writing!

Aura was born after the “Shift” 16 years ago. Being born after the Shift allows you to see ghosts that have not passed over. While this can be great for the kids 16 and younger, giving them a stellar career with the DMP once they turn 18, For Aura it’s turned out to be complete hell. On his 17th birthday, Logan, Aura’s boyfriend ends up dying. Caught up with trying to continue a relationship with her dead boyfriend and meeting a new friend, Zachary, she finds herself choosing between moving on and staying with her dead boyfriend. It doesn’t help matters that Logan isn’t ready to let her go.

With the devastating loss of her star-studded boyfriend she also faces the nasty rumors that the kids at school are spreading. Trying to keep Logan’s memory alive as it was, a highly loved front man for his band, and not the person that some people are making him out to be because of how he died. She continues to battle her way through finding out the truth and trying to help her boyfriend move on while she tries to find closure.

I was drawn in right away, this book had me bawling pretty much through out the whole story. Jeri Smith-Ready has a way of making you feel like you are there in the story with the characters. I kept thinking, what if this could happen. She put an emotional, yet amazing spin on ghosts. They aren’t all creepy and nasty and mean, although you meet a few of those. I was cheering for Aura and Logan, and there were a few times that I wanted to scream and yell at them both too. I am so very glad that I have book 2 to start on immediately because after finishing this book you definitely don’t want it to end. I was consumed by this story. This is a book that I will never forget, and I think that Logan’s story will forever be in my heart! Whew, what an awesome F’n book!!!
